Hey everyone! This week was almost, kind of sort of normal! Today is transfer day and I'll be staying another 6 weeks here in B1 with my hijo, Elder Burton. This week has been eventful, but a lot of our investigators were out of town because of Semana Santa. It's all good though, we saw some progress with other people. Semana Santa wasn't nearly as big here as it was in Valladolid, where I was last year. There weren't even any processions and not a single person dressed up like a death eater from Harry Potter. Disappointing.
We had a great lesson with an investigator named Krissia about the Plan of Salvation. She showed a lot of desire to know it was true. Ana has been out of town and is getting back this weekend, but she asked us this last week how she could tell her parents that she wants to be baptized. This was after she broke up with her boyfriend who's a member, so now we know she's meeting with us because she really wants to. She's legit. We had a pretty sick ward Easter party. We basically just made everyone participate in the American Easter traditions. We painted eggs and had an egg hunt for the little kids.
As I was thinking about a song for this week, I thought back to all of the times in the street where I've been laughed at, spat at, or straight up yelled at on the street just for being a missionary. It made me think of Acts chapter 5 in the New Testament. Peter and John had just been arrested:
"...and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.
41 And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.
42 And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ"
The fact that they rejoiced because they were "worthy to suffer shame for his name" has helped me to realize that really that's how it should be. Even after they were beaten, it didn't deter their desire to share the gospel in the slightest. People can laugh because we're members of the church and we have different standards, but all we have to remember is who we do it all for. Our Savior. "Shame," by Bastille was the result of my thought process.
That's all I've got this week. Hope you all are having a great time over yonder!
Hasta luego
